Chicago Gems/CWBL Tryout #1 April 5, 2007 BASH Sports Academy |

|
The Chicago
WomenÕs Baseball League is holding tryouts for its 2008 Season on Saturday, April
5. All players who wish to join our league and be placed on one of our four
teams must attend a tryout. (A second one will be held on April 20 if you
cannot attend on the 5th.) Come to our practice on March 28 to get ready. Date: Saturday, April 5 Time: 9-11am *Please be there at 8:45 so we can get
organized and start on time.* Location: BASH Sports Academy Address: 2617 W. Fletcher, Chicago 60618 (map) Cost: $20 Register: Fill out this registration
form. The tryout fee covers
the cost of renting the space and also earns you a cool Gems t-shirt. Bring your
fielding glove to the tryout. If you have batting gloves, bats, helmets and
catcherÕs gear that you want to bring, please do so, but weÕll have all of
those items (except batting gloves) available to borrow. There will be a
second tryout April 20. We encourage you to come to both tryouts, and since
you only pay the fee once, that should help you get the most of your money!
Hopefully this second tryout will be outside, weather permitting. (Stay
tuned.) All new players
will be drafted onto one of four teams after the second tryout. If you have a
friend on one of those teams and would like to play with her, please let us
know. We can't promise that all these requests will be granted, but we will
certainly try to make everyone happy. Happy players = good baseball. Opening day will
be June 1, and our schedule runs through the middle of September. Games will
be played on weekends, some Saturdays and some Sundays. (As a heads up, we're
looking into the possibility of one weeknight game, but we'll have to see how
attendance is for that. Wouldn't want you to think we were lying about the
weekends.) There might also be an opportunity for interested players to take
part in tournaments locally and nationally. League fees for
this year will be $175, plus uniforms. These costs pay for fields, umpires,
practice facilities, and some team equipment. Please know that we're aware of
everyone's budgets and will plan uniforms accordingly. Furthermore, we don't
want the cost to be prohibitive for anyone, so if you're committed to playing
but need some financial assistance please let us know. And of course if
you have any other questions, please don't
hesitate to ask. |
